5 Pattani males arrested for allegedly posing as police officers to extort locals

Covert who had been posing as law enforcement officials in southern Thailand’s Pattani province were arrested yesterday. The suspects allegedly extorted drug-taking residents or teenagers out of cash or property.
The Yaring police were alerted that men have been portraying themselves as members of the Yaring police at a village within the Laem Pho Subdistrict. The Nation Thailand says the lads dressed as police officers and had “armours” with police on the chest. The males allegedly chose local youngsters or people who took narcotics as their extortion victims. The fake police would ask residents if they could inspect their belongings and typically extort them for both money or property. Police have since arrested the 5 males.
